checking the stock in against the list provided - this means they know what has arrived, and what things are called
keeping a record of the spins, winners and prizes (see below)
ensuring that the prizes don't "go missing" - your profits are quickly lost if, in the excitement of a carnival atmosphere, someone nicks an item or two.
2 - SPRUIKER
someone who can prattle on, draw the crowd, keep things moving - an auctioneer, if you’ve got one in your club.
3 -TICKET SELLERS
who move among the crowd exchanging tickets for money - make sure they have plenty of small change, and a secure pouch to keep it in.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
You might have decided to have only $2 spins for the whole day, or you might have decided on a mixture of $2 and $5 spins or $1 and $2 spins. If you are mixing them, make sure the prizes are displayed separately -
$2 prizes on the left, $5 prizes on the right;
$1 prizes on the lower shelf, $2 on the top shelf.
You take a sheet of tickets and share them among the ticket sellers. Sell the tickets at the agreed price - $5, $1, $2.
When all tickets are sold, spin the wheel; the lucky winner can then choose a prize from the appropriate section. We recommend that you allow winners to select a prize from a range, rather than saying "We are spinning the wheel for (this) prize". You will sell more tickets, faster, if you allow people the choice. It is far more attractive to the ticket buyers to have the choice of prizes - e.g., "Anything on the top shelf" - than for you to hold up one prize and say "This is what you can win this time" - this is a sure way to lose momentum.
A good crowd, worked well, should be able to have 6-10 spins per hour. If things are moving slowly, and you cannot sell the last one or two tickets, just "donate" them to your cause - "The last two tickets have just gone - the school bought them" - or give them to someone who’s been buying lots of tickets and winning nothing - then spin the wheel and move on - don't lose the crowd through boredom. If the "donated to the club" ticket wins, you have the option to take a prize that is of use to the club, or of not taking a prize but collecting all the ticket money and making extra profit. If no winner is forthcoming within a reasonable length of time, you are required to spin again.
