Donations vs bought prizes

You have collected a number of donations

You have also asked a business such as ours

to supply a range of goods on Sale or Return;

At first, it might seem obvious that donations will bring

in more  money than goods for which you will have to pay;

however, the reality is that the more goods displayed,

the more choice ticket buyers have, the more spins

you will have, and ultimately, the more money

you will make.

 We recommend that you allow winners

to select a prize from a range,

          "Any prize on the top shelf"

 rather than saying

   AWe are spinning the wheel for (this) prize@.

You will sell more tickets, faster, if you allow people the choice.

For example,

"The next spin is for this toaster@ B you have just lost three

      quarters of your potential buyers because they

      all have toasters;

AAnything on the top shelf@, on the other hand, leaves it open

      for the winner to choose between the toaster, a vase,

      a backpack, and any of a couple of dozen other prizes

You sell more tickets, more quickly by letting people choose.

Then there is the courtesy aspect.

It can take us a couple of hours to prepare a list, pick and

pack the stock, and then put the returns back after the fete.

           For all this, we only charge for the stock you used.

           In return, we hope that you will at least display

our stock alongside your donations.
